How to Build a Truggy (Proper Guidelines with Elaborated Steps)

Allocating and attaching thousands of parts can be confusing and annoying. You need a boatload of patients. Well, for building a Truggy if you follow the proper guidelines it won’t be that much annoying.

So, how to build a Truggy?

Things You’ll Be Needing to Build a Truggy

There are a lot of parts that you need to build a truggy. These are not just a piece of toys. Like a real car or a dune buggy, there are parts that can be complicated to understand.

How to Build a Truggy

Building a Truggy or a buggy is super fun. But RC car assembly can be difficult just like servo troubleshooting. There are a lot of parts to fit and it can be difficult to do so. If one of the parts isn’t in the right place, the truggy cannot function properly. 

Before you attach anything to the chassis it’s better to place all the parts in one place. This way you can allocate which part goes where. Also, the chassis is the main part where you attach everything. So keep the chassis in front of you. 

Below we have shown how to build the Truggy in one single piece. The procedure is divided into 5 steps for your help. We have also mentioned a few RC tips and tricks too.  

Step 1: Attach the Shocks And Axles 

You need to attach the shocks and the axles to the chassis before you add anything. The axles also have differentials built onto them. If you bought the parts new, most probably it’s going to be lubricated. But always check if it is or not. 

If it’s not lubricated, you should use proper oils and lubricants to lubricate the gears. You might also need to oil the shocks. There is neutral oil available for shock absorbers which you can use. 

Step 2: Attach the Steering Pipes and the Battery

Now that shocks are on the chassis, you can attach the battery and the steering too. You can use either 3000 or 5000 mah batteries. Attaching the battery is fairly easy. 

The attached wire will be exposed out of the battery. The wires connect to the motor which is attached to the front and rear axles. And the front and rear axles are going to be connected with the axle rode. 

On the other hand, the steering is a bit tricky. The steering is going to be attached to the wheel with steering rods. You need to know some basic wiring to know how to wire RC car. 


Step 3: Attach the Motor and the WiFi Connector

Here comes the trickiest part. Attach the motor in the middle of the chassis. Although, some of the chassis has space for the motor behind. In that case, attach the motor to its place. Afterward, connect the motor with the axles. 

Now place the wifi connector in the middle of the chassis. The connector will attach to the motor and the steering. The steering rods are going to control the steering for you. 

You also need to attach both of the parts to the battery. The motor and the steering control are the two components that need power. There will be two thick red and black cables that attach to the battery. 

In Truggies, there will be an ESU between the motors and the battery. This will be the circuit board and the power delivery system to the motors. 

Step 4: Put on the Body Parts and the Tires

Now that the brains of the truggy are ready, let’s play with the look. The body casing doesn’t only improve aesthetics, it also protects the components. Even though the inside components are waterproof, you need a casing. 

You also need to attach the skid plate, speed controller, H mounts, and the trailing arms. These will increase the strength of the truggy. 

Also, the body casing can give you a distinctive look that only you can own. 

Tires are also a really important part of a truggy. No matter how powerful the motor is, you need adequate grip in your tires. Otherwise, the truggy will not move. Better tires will let you show off all the RC car tips and tricks you have learned. 

There are many different sizes of tires. Make sure the tire you want to use fits with the rest of the components. There are a lot of full truggy kits available if you’re having a hard time finding all the parts.

Step 5: Quality Check and Test Drive

If you have followed all the above texts, the truggy must be ready by now. Now, it’s time to check if all the parts have fit right. Also, check if the remote control is working properly. 

The battery needs the power to move the truggy. You need to charge the truggy for a long period of time before you take it for a run. The high-end remote controls run on WiFi. which will provide you with a longer range.

What to Do if Remote Control Isn’t Working?

How Long Does it Take to Charge a Truggy?

It can take up to 40 to 60 minutes to charge the truggy battery. The battery of the truggy usually comes at 3000 or 5000 mah. If you are using fast charging, the speed will be faster. 

How Long Can I Use the Truggy in One Charge?

You can use the truggy for up to 30 minutes before it starts losing performance. But if you use it at high power for a long period, the time will be less. Also, off-roading can cut off a substantial amount of time.
