You recently bought a brand-new Everest Redcat Gen 7 and are excited to use it. Unfortunately, your dream machine isn’t working quite the way you expected.
Don’t worry, we’re here to help! In this article, I’ll walk you through some common troubleshooting tips for the Everest Redcat Gen 7.
So, what are the common Redcat gen 7 problems?
The very first problem can be the ESC isn’t working. Not getting enough power is the reason here. Next, ESC can’t start the motor is another problem. The lack of proper adjustment in the connection between ESC and receiver is the reason here. Suddenly acceleration is another minor problem of Redcat gen 7.
This is not all about the Redcat gen 7 problem and solutions. Keep reading the article for more about it.
A Quick Overview
Trouble | Reasons | A Quick Fix |
The ESC won’t power on | The Esc Is Not Receiving Any Power | Ensure that every ESC connection is well attached and that all solder joints are in place. |
The ESC can’t start the motor | The ESC is improperly connected to the receiver | To match the current ESC neutral position. Re-calibrate the throttle range or adjust the radio throttle trim neutral position. |
The vehicle runs backward | The wiring to the ESC isn’t correct | Change the “Throttle Reverse” radio. Switch the black and red wires coming from the motor to the ESC. |
The motor suddenly stopped working | The throttle signal disappeared | Look over the receiver and the radio. ESC temperature and battery voltage should both be checked if the Red LED is blinking constantly. |
The accelerated suddenly | There is not enough discharge capacity in the pack | Use a different pack with a higher discharge rate. Use the stock engine and gearing, and avoid pulling big loads. |

Problem 1: The ESC Won’t Power On
ESC is not being powered on is a very common problem. That’s why this is the first problem I’m going to discuss. I went through the same issue with my Redcat gen 8 and troubleshooted it. Let’s see how I do it.
Reason: The Esc Is Not Receiving Any Power
The ESC switch may be damaged if it is not properly maintained. This can result in problems with the vehicle’s powertrain. It includes the inability to start the engine.
Solution:
If your Everest Redcat Gen 7 ESC will not power on, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can take.
- First, ensure that the battery is connected properly. Then the connector should be plugged into the receiver.
- If you get the after properly connected then the problem should be with the receiver. Try swapping out the receiver with another one to see if that fixes the problem.
Still couldn’t you get your ESC powered on? Then it may be time to contact any expert or the manufacturer.
Problem 2: The ESC Couldn’t Start the Motor
It is the second problem that I’m discussing here. How it happens and how to fix it will be shared with you.
Reason: The ESC Is Improperly Connected To The Receiver
This could happen if the ESC is not connected to the receiver in the correct form. It could be necessary to modify the transmitter’s neutral position.
Solution:
Here is a few troubleshooting tips to help get you started:
- First, double-check that the battery is properly connected. Ensure that the black and red leads are securely plugged into their corresponding ports.
- Next, check that the throttle is in the “off” position. If it’s not, switch it to “off” and try turning on the ESC again.
- If that doesn’t work, try cleaning the connectors using a little electrical contact cleaner. This can help to remove any built-up dirt or corrosion that might be preventing a good connection.
- And lastly, if all else fails, try replacing the battery. You might only require a new battery to activate your Everest Redcat Gen 7!
Problem 3: The Vehicle Ran Backward
Previously I owned Redcat volcano 16 and it had the same problem. I had to troubleshoot my Redcat volcano. So, the procedure I had followed, I’ll share with you now.
Reason: The Wiring to the ESC isn’t Correct
It’s possible that the radio’s “Throttle Reverse” switch isn’t adjusted properly. The wiring from the motor to the ESC is improper.
Solution:
Below I am adding the solution to fix this problem.
- First, make sure that the steering wheel is in the correct position. If it isn’t, the vehicle can believe it is being driven incorrectly and begin to reverse.
- Also, assure that the throttle is in the correct position.
- If it’s not, the car may think that it’s being accelerated too quickly and start moving backward.
- Finally, check that the brakes are engaged and working properly. If they’re not, the car may think that it’s being stopped too abruptly and start moving backward.

Problem 4: The Motor Suddenly Stopped Working
It’s a regular problem almost all RC lovers have been facing. But what’s the reason behind this problem? This is what I’m going to talk about now.
Reason: The Throttle Signal Disappeared
The most common is thermal protection, which is designed to protect the battery from overheating. Checking your coolant system may be necessary if you find that your car has been running hot.
Solution:
- First, try restarting the car. Sometimes a quick reboot will help to fix this issue.
- If that doesn’t work, it’s time to take a closer look at the problem.
- Check the battery to make sure it’s still properly connected and has enough charge. If it looks like the battery is at fault, then you might need to replace it.
- Finally, if everything else checks out, it might be time to take your car in for repairs.
Problem 5: The Motor Accelerated Suddenly
You must be already stressed about this problem. That’s normal, but do you know that there are also some fixes to solve the issue? Yes, and that’s what I’m going to share with you here.
Reason: There Is Not Enough Discharge Capacity In The Pack

Your car’s final drive ratio is calculated using the speed of the car. It is determined by two things:
- How fast you’re driving
- How much weight your car has
The faster you’re going, and the heavier your car is, the higher its RPM. So if your final drive ratio isn’t working properly. It might be because one or both of those things are out of whack.
Solution:
First, don’t panic. This kind of problem can often be fixed with a simple adjustment or repair. Here are a few tips to help you troubleshoot the issue:
- Find out what speed you’re traveling at with your odometer. If it’s higher than normal, then something is wrong with your car’s final drive ratio.
- Get a torque wrench to help you find out exactly how much force it takes to turn each wheel on its axle shafts. You can do this by turning each wheel 10 times. Then adding up all of those rotations to get an accurate measurement. Then subtract that from 1,000. Since torque is measured in pounds per square inch (PSI).
These are the problems and the solution. However, to avoid these problems, always remember to have proper maintenance of your RC car.
