Traxxas Slash 2WD Upgrades — Gearing, Suspension & Motor

A stock Traxxas Slash 2WD is a genuinely capable truck out of the box, but it's also clearly built to a price point: a 550-size brushed motor, gearing set conservatively for that motor's power band, and shocks tuned for general dirt-and-driveway use rather than hard bashing. None of that is a flaw so much as a starting point, and the Slash 2WD's popularity means the aftermarket for it, gearing, shocks, motors, diffs, is deep enough that almost any upgrade path is well documented and easy to source.

Motor Upgrades — Brushed to Brushless

The brushless conversion is the single biggest performance jump available on a Slash 2WD, and it's also the upgrade that puts the most additional stress on everything else in the drivetrain.
